Newah organization of America (NOA) is organizing the Nepal Sambat 1140 celebration on 23rd November 2019, Saturday at the auditorium hall of the Kingsview Middile School, Germantown, MD-20874. This event is also being celebrated to commomerate the National Hero of Nepal, Shakhadhar Sakhwa who believed to have begun the Nepal Sambat by paying off the debt of all Nepalese back in 879 AD. The NOA has been celebrating this event as one of the most important annual events of NOA.
As usual, this year also the event will start with the Sukunda Rally and Dhimey Baja procession, followed by paying tribute to Skhankhadhar Shakhwa by presenting garland on his photo. The first quarter of the event will be a formal opening session with the welcoming of the guests and dignitaries, followed by a key note talk on the importance of the Nepal Sambat. The rest of the event will be more focused on entertainment shows. This event not only supports to maintain and promotes the Newah culture, but also provides the platform for local individuals and teams to present their talents. This year also several local singers and dancers are going to perform at the event. Since last 5 years one of the attractions of the NOA’s Nepal Sambat Celebration has been the Nepal Bhasha Drama that has gained the popularity among the audience. As the continuation of the trend, this year also the Natak Mandali team will present the Nepal Bhasha Drama titled, “Whantan Pyantan wo: American VISA”.
