On Tuesday February 3, 2015, the Newah Organization of America held a very successful Sri Swasthani Brata Closing Ceremony in the Greater Washington Metro Area. This unique religious and educational event was dedicated to Sri Swasthani Mata and Sri Madhav Narayan, just as it is at the holy Salinadi River in Sankhu, Nepal. Twenty-two men and women participated in the ritual Brata Ceremony. Congratulations to all participants for successfully completing the ceremony!
This is the 4th Swasthani Brata Closing Ceremony performed publicly in the United States. Newah Priest and Scholar, Mr. Basav Rajopadhyay performed this unique puja ceremony along with those twenty-two fasting devotees, and well wishers were presented at the Greater Baltimore Hindu Temple in Finksburg, Maryland. A delicious vegetarian lunch (Prasad) was also served following the puja.
Newah priest Mr. Rajopadhyay explained the significance and meaning of this Brata and puja step by step to all participants and closed a Barta with a traditional way as they do in Nepal. Some meaningful Bhajans performed live by Mr. Sushil Lal Shrestha during the ceremony and all the attendees received blessings from the priest.
NOA President Mr. Ram Lal Shrestha welcomed and thanked all the attendees for the participation even on their busy schedule. Mr. Shrestha also thanked all the contributors of the puja. Special thanks go to Mr. Basav Rajopadhyay, Mr./Mrs. Ravi & Meena Pradhan for the venue sponsor and coordinating the Puja/Yagya Samagri, and The Greater Baltimore Hindu Temple for providing the venue and all the EC and family members, all generous volunteers who contributed to the Prasad (Lunch).
