Dear NOA Life Members, Friends and Community Members:
The Newah Organization of America (NOA) families are deeply saddened to hear about the recent passing of Legendary singer Mr. Ramesh Tamrakar at the age of 68 on Thursday, 25th January 2018 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Mr Ramesh Tamrakar was a well renowned singer and his songs had reached our homes and hearts. He had touched the lives of many with his melodious voice through many beautiful Newari and Nepali Songs. Few of those songs are Kala ya tha chey, Laquili Durwar, Thaunwaila kanhay waila, Maya ray ratna, Yaadi yaad ma, Gundruk Pakauna pardaina, Bachna Janmay ko Nepali ma, Kalo kapal bulbulay alka, Mailay aakha ko bhakha and the list goes on. He had been active in the music industry since 70’s.
He was a well learned person with double Masters, in Mathematics and in Business Studies from Leeds University, UK and had also served as a General Manager for Sanskritik Sansthan. His family and friends remembers him as a very lively, loving and caring person with a charming personality.
NOA was honored to have Mr. Tamrakar as a special guest and perform at NOA’s 15th Annual Convention & General Meeting In 2016.
Mr. Tamrakar was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Anjana Tamrakar, 2 sons Sagun and Sugam Tamrakar, 2 daughter in laws Shucheeta Shrestha Tamrakar and Pala Kansakar Tamrakar, grand daughter, Shreeda Tamrakar.
Words are never enough to comfort the family during this grieving period. We take comfort in knowing that Mr. Ramesh Tamrakar is now resting in the arms of our Lord. Our thought and prayers are with his entire family during this difficult time.
